I've assumed a (supposedly reputable) program was a false positive in the past, and it really came back to bite me. Until such a time it can pass the virustotal scan, I won't install. It has a devoted community and seems reputable. What are people's views on this? I'm sure people would say its a false positive. However, I did download it from the official website and the web address matched what it said in forum. I read in this post in reddit that apparently if you download it from the wrong site, it can be infected. So everytime that I download an application, I scan it with whatever antivirus my computer has and then I upload it to virustotal website and scan it there as well. You will have a better confidence level that it is (or not) a false positive. You may want to test your installer package and your program files with Virustotal, where your files will be tested with several different engines. The script could trigger a false positive, but you may also be infected without your knowledge with a virus that escapes your AV utility.
